In the context of the family studies, little attention has been paid to sports education, although taking part in sports activities promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities. Several studies have shown that parents play an important role in the sport socialization process. However what we know about this topic is based on studies conducted in samples of children without disabilities while only a few studies have investigated this topic in samples of children with disabilities. The present paper intends to explore parental beliefs about sport in a sample of 30 parents of children with disabilities, in order to fill this gap in the scientific literature and to create a new research trend in the field of special pedadogy.
