Abstract

Abstract The paper is based on Tolkien’s novel “Lord of the Rings”, which in the framework of the project 'SUPER Orientation and Tutoring Pathways to Promote University and Professional Success' (POT- 2017-2018) formed the basis for the realization of an orientation pathway aimed at high school students. The workshop path investigated personal and educational biographies, life trajectories and awareness of future choices. The theme of the “journey” was the leitmotif of the course, declined through the character of Frodo, who is forced to abandon the comforts of his life to embark on a journey that will lead him to get lost both outside and inside himself, to re-orient himself and to seek new paths to follow. Orientation emerges, therefore, as a rhizomatic process in which to experience the formative value of stumbling and error, in which to lose oneself and find oneself in order to reach a “middle ground” from which to continue the journey.
