This paper presents the point of view of school principals and teachers, who participate in training activities on school evaluation and self-evaluation. The development of evaluation capacity building is a crucial issue in the debate on the implementation of the Italian Evaluation System. National and international studies point out the relevance to take a decentralized perspective in supporting of schools’ self-assessment processes. The perspective of the participants in this training activity takes into account the characteristics of the courses, the expectations and needs, the opportunities for an open dialogue, mutual exchange and comparison, the evaluation skills learned and the repercussions in school contexts.
