This paper is meant to reflect upon the early childhood educator, starting from the idea of childhood itself, matured – not without difficulties – in the course of time to a cultural level. Early childhood services are the most recent newborn on the national territory and still suffer from a limited legislation, unable to follow the changes regarding the whole environment of welfare. In this framework and paying attention to the forthcoming socio-cultural scenarios, this essay aims at outlining the specific vocational figure of the early childhood educator, both at a theoretical and practical level.
