I resti faunistici dai pozzetti neolitici di Gazzo Veronese - Località Scolo Gelmina (VR). Risultati preliminari dell’analisi tafonomica

Abstract

The neolithic site of Gazzo Veronese - località Scolo Gelmina (VR) was excavated by Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Veneto in 1997. 26 negative structures and 2 incineration tombs have been brought to light. Through the analysis of the material found in the pits, it has been possible to relate 24 structures to the recent Neolithic, and specifically to the third phase of the Squared Mouthed Pottery Culture (SMP III). The tassonomic and taphonomic analysis of the faunal specimens made possible to retrace the site economy. The most represented species are Bos taurus, Sus scrofa, Capra vel Ovis. The anthropic marks have been recognized on a scarce number of remains (6,6%) but they have been observed almost on every anatomical portions. They attest the different phases of the butchery, suggesting that it happened inside the settlement nearby the pits.
