This article focuses on the evolution of sound and the development of noise in Luigi Russolo’s thought, relating them to Pietro Grossi’s research, particularly in the field of computer music. Russolo’s premise was grounded in the integration of noise into the sonic dimension, thus anticipating what would later become central to musical experimentation and renewal in the second half of the twentieth century, especially in the work of the composer Pietro Grossi. From this perspective, certain Russolian principles, such as the expansion and organization of sound-noise, may be interpreted as proto-algorithmic premises that would later find a direct resonance in Grossi’s music, first in its algorithmic dimension and later in its development into computer music.
