Produced by Rizzoli Film in collaboration with Giuseppe Amato and directed by French-Russian film maker Léonide Moguy, Domani è troppo tardi (1950) is an interesting example of contamination between “melodramatic imagination” and the poetics of Italian Neorealism. When issued, the film was also seen as the first daring attempt to deal with the necessity of a sex education for children and teenagers. This essay analyses the critical debate carried out on newspapers and magazines, and focuses in particular on the reactions it provoked in Catholic press. In addition, it explores the lives and careers of the young actors who starred in the film (Anna Maria Pierangeli, Gino Leurini e Carlo Delle Piane), and investigates the roles they played in it.
