Abstract

The present paper examines Giovanni Romei’s mansion in the Ferrara of the XIV century and sets out to express some hypotheses about the interpretation of the pictorial cycle which decorated the wooden partitions walls of the so-called Studiolo di Casa Romei, where allegorical representations drawn from the geographical area appear. This iconography isn’t proper to the rooms dedicated to studies and the archive research carried out so far haven’t provided certain answers on the function of the aforementioned room, giving rise to further research.
