Abstract

Abstract – In Italy, the educational path of students with non-Italian citizenship presents some problems. On the basis of the latest ministerial reports available, it is possible to note that in the last two years of secondary school, the school attendance of foreign pupils decreases considerably, although it has improved over the years. To date, students from migrant backgrounds are present in all high school courses. However, it is possible to find that the majority of them are aimed at the technical-professional sector, in many cases choosing three-year professional education and training courses. This is a sort of “educational segregation”. The problems highlighted call into question the issue of scholastic guidance to be addressed to pupils of foreign origin and their families. This is a topic of considerable interest for socio-pedagogical research, representing one of the issues most highlighted by educational institutions.
