The widespread use of digital technologies, in parallel with positive social effects, also generates considerable risks of expansion of illicit activities. Because of their careless attitude and their persistent connection with the Web, adolescents are particularly exposed to the threats of cybercrime. Since many years, legislators and scholars have been focusing on the protection of minors as victims of cybercrime. However, it is worth paying due attention also to the minors as perpetrators of cybercrimes. This essay analyses the criminal law relevance of cyberbullying, which provides for a crucial standpoint for an assessment of youth offenders’ behaviours in the cyberspace.
