Abstract

The attribution proposed in this paper attempts to add a new piece to the reconstruction of the early production of the Ferrarese painter Ludovico Mazzolino (circa 1480 – circa 1528/1530), often coincident with the commission of works intended for public fruition, usually of a large format.

The few figurative testimonies that remain from this period – prior to 1509 of the first work dated with certainty, the Berlin Triptych – have focused the attention of critics on the subsequent, more recognizable, production of mostly small-format paintings, while it remains uncertain the identification of the oldest proofs of the artist
